WikiLeaks Editor Falsely Claims Julian Assange Was Arrested For ‘Publishing Truthful Information’

WikiLeaks editor Kristinn Hrafnsson falsely claimed on CNN that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested in London for “publishing truthful information”{

A publisher/journalist is now being indicted for publishing truthful information about war crimes and other issues pertaining to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that is of serious concern. This is a serious attack on the freedom of the press, and should be noted as such.

The indictment against Assange actually alleged that “in March 2010, Assange engaged in a conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to … a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications.”
