A surveillance video was shown in court on Oct. 9 of a white shirtless man shooting a 14-year-old black teen who walked up to the man’s home to ask for directions in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on April 14.
Jeffrey Zeigler is on trial in Oakland County for allegedly shooting at Brennan Walker on the porch of his home, reports WJBK.
Zeigler has been charged with assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The surveillance video shows the black teen running away as the white man shoots at him.
Zeigler’s wife allegedly accused the teen of breaking into their home.
Shawn Pace, a detective with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, testified in court about what Zeigler told him following the shooting, notes WJBK:
I said, “Sir, can you point out to me where he charged your door, at what point was he a threat?”
Mr. Ziegler at this point is just sitting there and I said “you took aim at him. You know sir, can you respect what I do and just admit that you aimed your weapon at this young man.”
He took a big drink of water, he looked at me and he said, “I’m tired of being a victim.”
