Residents in McAllen, Texas told CNN reporter how safe their border town is, contradicting President Donald Trump’s claims of a national emergency.”
A resident named Nadine said the only “shootings” she’s heard of is local crime, it has nothing to do with immigrants crossing the border. She called the area “very calm” and “very safe.”
Another resident, Jose, said he had lived his entire life in the border town and called it very safe.
Jose has lived here in the McAllen TX area his whole life. He also tells me it is very safe here. pic.twitter.com/GHRlW8nKf4— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) January 10, 2019
Acosta himself searched for signs of a national emergency, but could not find any.
I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today. pic.twitter.com/KRoLdszLUu— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) January 10, 2019
