Trump Tries To Scare Americans Away From Medicare For All, While He Uses Government-Run Health Care
President Donald Trump tried to scare Americans away from the Democrats’ Medicare for All plan by invoking Venezuela in a lie-filled op-ed for USA TODAY:
Dishonestly called “Medicare for All,” the Democratic proposal would establish a government-run, single-payer health care system that eliminates all private and employer-based health care plans and would cost an astonishing $32.6 trillion during its first 10 years.
The truth is that the centrist Democratic Party is dead. The new Democrats are radical socialists who want to model America’s economy after Venezuela.
As a matter of record, the Democrats have never advocated an economy patterned after Venezuela where the government relied too much on imports, suffered after the world price drop in oil and cut funding on health care, noted the Associated Press in 2014.
Like Venezuela, Republicans have tried to cut government spending on health care, while Democrats have tried to increase it.
Trump also whined about “government-run healthcare,” which he and the Republicans benefit from today:
If Democrats win control of Congress this November, we will come dangerously closer to socialism in America. Government-run health care is just the beginning.
The U.S. came in last (again) behind ten countries with universal government-run health care in a 2017 study by the Commonwealth Fund, noted Newsweek.
