President Donald Trump said that he “was not a fan” of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was recently arrested for allegedly sex trafficking minors, notes CNBC (more video below):
I had a falling out a long time ago with him. don’t think I’ve spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his.
However, Trump itold New York magazine in 2002 that Epstein was a “terrific guy” who is “a lot of fun to be with”:
It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.
After distancing himself from Epstein, Trump said that he felt badly for Labor Secretary Alex Acosta who approved a controversial no-prosecution deal for Epstein in a sex crime scandal in the mid-2000s.
Acosta approved the deal when Epstein was being investigated both by state and federal authorities for the alleged crimes that he is now charged with.
Trump defends Alexander Acosta’s handling of Epstein case: “I do hear that there were a lot of people involved in that decision & not just him … he’s been a really great secretary of labor. The rest of it we’ll have to look at very carefully.” pic.twitter.com/NDxO7PLoIc— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) July 9, 2019
