President Donald Trump praised a Michigan adoption agency that discriminates against same-sex couples during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast.
Trump cited Chad and Melissa Buck, who adopted five children through St. Vincent Catholic Charities, which discriminates against LGBT people, notes ThinkProgress.
Trump also complained about a lawsuit filed to change Michigan law that allows this discrimination:
Unfortunately, the Michigan adoption charity that brought the Buck family together is now defending itself in court for living by the values of its Catholic faith.
We will always protect our country’s long and proud tradition of faith-based adoption. My administration is working to insure that faith-based adoption agencies are able to help vulnerable children find their forever families while following their deeply held beliefs.
