Trump And Republicans Try To Smear Whistleblower With Lawyer’s Anti-Trump Tweets From 2017
President Donald Trump and his Republican allies are trying to smear the whistleblower, who alerted government officials about the Trump-Ukraine scandal, by whining about whistleblower lawyer Mark Zaid’s anti-Trump tweets from 2017 (video below).
During a speech in Monroe, Louisiana on Nov. 7, Trump claimed Zaid’s tweets about a “coup” somehow made the entire impeachment process a “hoax.”
Trump also announced that “Democrats must be accountable for their hoaxes and their crimes,” but could not name any actual hoaxes or crimes.
Zaid, who is not required to be bipartisan, sent a statement to Fox News about the right wing hysteria:
Those tweets were reflective and repeated the sentiments of millions of people.
I was referring to a completely lawful process of what President Trump would likely face as a result of stepping over the line, and that particularly whatever would happen would come about as a result of lawyers.
The coup comment referred to those working inside the Administration who were already, just a week into office, standing up to him to enforce recognized rules of law.
