A hit-and-run crash scene in Miami turned chaotic on March 11 as a driver tried to flee the scene while citizens attempted to stop him.
According to a police report, Maxwell Lagutenko crossed the median in his SUV and hit an oncoming vehicle, notes WPLG.
Police said Lagutenko kept driving and crashed into two more cars.
Cellphone video — posted by Twitter user Billy Corben — shows multiple drivers getting out of their cars and trying to stop the SUV from leaving the scene.
One man broke every window of the SUV with a sledgehammer.
An officer, who was unaware of the hit-and-run crashes, tried to pull over the SUV for reckless driving.
Police claimed Lagutenko failed to stop for the officer, who backed off because of a no-chase policy for non-violent crimes.
According to police, Lagutenko was arrested after a Fire Rescue crew helped identify him to police.
Lagutenko was charged with fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and reckless driving.
