State Department Spent $52,701 On Curtains For Nikki Haley’s UN Residence
President Donald Trump’s state department spent $52,701 in taxpayer money in 2017 on customized and mechanized curtains for the picture windows at Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s official residence in New York City.
While the state department was buying the curtains, it imposed deep budget cuts and froze hiring, reports The New York Times, which described the residence:
The full-floor penthouse, with handsome hardwood floors covering large open spaces stretching nearly 6,000 square feet, was listed at $58,000 a month.
A spokesman for Haley claimed that plans to buy the curtains were made during the Obama administration in 2016, but offered no evidence to back up that claim.
