Republican Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada attacked Laura Packard, who has stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, in a fundraising email.
Heller had Packard removed from a town hall in December 2017 when she dared to question Heller about the future of Obamacare:
Why are you voting for me to lose my health care? Without it I will die?
Heller claimed in a fundraising email that Packard is a “Democratic political operative” because she appeared in a commercial for Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen of Nevada:
One in four Nevadans have a pre-existing condition like I do … and Dean Heller is lying about helping us.
Heller promised in June 2017 that he would not vote for a bill that ended protections for pre-existing conditions, noted CNBC, but did vote a Republican bill that would have allowed states to end protections for those with pre-existing conditions, reported Politifact in June 2018.
Packard slammed Heller on Twitter for attacking her on Oct. 8:
Why is my U.S. Senator, @SenDeanHeller, attacking me personally? Last year I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I had to go through 6 months of chemotherapy and a month of radiation while fighting MY OWN Senator to keep my care. pic.twitter.com/H6FWVptsEz
