Fox News host Sean Hannity falsely claimed that President Donald Trump was required by the U.S. Constitution to ask Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, notes Media Matters:
Let’s be clear, the president of the United States has a sworn duty, a constitutional duty to investigate crimes.
United States has a treaty with Ukraine, and several other countries like Australia, Italy, and Great Britain that requires cooperation in criminal investigations, and that’s not all.
Hannity apparently got his bizarre talking point from Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow who made the same false claim on his radio show the same day.
