Oregon GOP Jokes About State Capitol Being Closed By Threats From Militia Groups

Law-enforcement officials closed the Oregon State Capitol in Salem on June 22, after threats were made by militia groups on behalf of Republicans who have fled their jobs in the Oregon Senate to stop a vote on a anti-pollution cap and trade bill, notes the Wall Street Journal.

The bill is expected to pass because of the Democratic majority, but a vote cannot take place unless Republicans are present.

In response, the Oregon GOP tweeted a sarcastic caption with a June 19 picture from KATU about timber workers protesting the anti-pollution bill (on behalf of corporations).
