Three Agawam, Massachusetts, police officers were fired in October 2016 after brutally beating David Desjardins on June 19, 2016.
Desjardins was reportedly arrested while drunk at Six Flags New England. He was taken to the Agawam Police Department, where the beating by police was filmed by a station camera.
However, Agawam Mayor William P. Sapelli hired two of the three officers back after the FBI stopped investigating the cops for excessive force, notes Mass Live.
Sapelli defended rehiring Officer Edward B. Connor and Sgt. Anthony Grasso: “You bring them back. It’s that simple.”
Sapelli was not able to rehire Officer John P. Moccio whose case is still before the state Civil Service Commission.
