A police officer was filmed kicking a handcuffed man over a warrant for an unlawful syringe in Marion, Indiana.
The Marion Police Department claimed the man, Julian Paegle, was wanted on an active warrant for “failure to appear” in court.
The Free Thought Project notes that court date appears to have been over “unlawful possession of a syringe.”
The police department said Officer Kyle Griffith “provided rear security” to the home — where Paegle was staying — while Officer Billy Cole knocked on the front door.
The police claim Paegle was in the backyard, and allegedly struggled to get away, but was placed in handcuffs.
Police allege that Paegle resisted again while being walked to the patrol car in handcuffs and broke free, which is when the video begins and shows Cole kicking him.
