Republican Sen. David Purdue of Georgia reportedly took a Georgia Tech student’s cell phone away when the student asked Perdue how he could support Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who is running for governor, and has blocked 53,000 people who submitted voter registration applications (70 percent are black).
Instead of answering the student, who is member of the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), Perdue reportedly grabbed the student’s cell phone away — which is technically theft — on the Atlanta campus.
The student told Perdue: “You stole my property. You stole my property. Give me my phone back, senator.”
Perdue pretended the student wanted a picture: “Alright, you wanted a picture? You wanted a picture? I’m gonna give it to you. You wanted a picture?”
