GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy Decides To Quit Congress, Wasted Millions On Failed Benghazi Investigation

Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, who wasted millions of taxpayer dollars in a two-year failed investigation of Hillary Clinton and the 2012 Benghazi tragedy, has announced he will not run for re-election.

Gowdy, who currently leads the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, made the announcement on Twitter:

There is a time to come and a time to go. This is the right time, for me, to leave politics and return to the justice system… Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress, and I enjoy our justice system more than our political system.

The Hill notes that Gowdy maybe in the running for a seat on the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, which opened up just one day before Gowdy announced his retirement.
