A gay couple and a good Samaritan were attacked by a group of 4 men after the Miami Beach Gay Pride parade in Florida on April 8 (more video below).
Rene Chalarca and Dmitry Logunov were exiting a public restroom when they were called gay slurs in Spanish and attacked by the men, notes WPLG.
A good Samaritan, Helmut Muller Estrada, tried to break up the attack, but was he hit and knocked to the ground.
Police are searching for the four suspects, but Chalarca and Logunov say the responding officers did little to find the men and told Chalarca and Logunov to simply go home and tend to their injuries.
Logunov recalled the incident to WTVJ:
We probably provoked them because we were walking together, holding hands. It was gay pride, South Beach was full of gay people.
This was the first time that I go to this type of event, and of course it got me overwhelmed like, “Why, why us? Why is this happening, especially here in Miami?”
