The New York Times has released audio of former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly yelling at journalists Emily Steel and Michael S. Schmidt who recently reported on O’Reilly’s $32 million settlement to Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl in January.
Wiehl accused O’Reilly of engaging in “a nonconsensual sexual relationship” with her, which allegedly included harassment and messaging her sexually explicit material, including gay pornography.
After the reporters finished their interview with O’Reilly, he berated them:
Why don’t you be human beings for once. This is horrible, it’s horrible what I went through, horrible what my family went through. This is crap and you know it. It’s politically and financially motivated. And we can prove it with shocking information.
But I’m not going to sit there in a court room for a year and a half and let my kids get beaten up every single day of their lives by a tabloid press that would sit there and you know it!
Fox News signed a four-year $25 million (per year) deal with O’Reilly in February after he made the settlement with Wiehl in January, but after news broke in April of numerous settlements with women, O’Reilly and Fox News parted ways.
