The Washington Post reported this week that “multiple people with knowledge of the deliberations” said President Donald Trump dictated a misleading statement about Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with a Russian lawyer back in June 2016.
The newspaper stated: “The extent of the president’s personal intervention in his son’s response, the details of which have not previously been reported, adds to a series of actions that Trump has taken that some advisers fear could place him and some members of his inner circle in legal jeopardy.”
However, Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for President Donald Trump, denied the president drafted a statement about Jr.’s meeing with a Russian lawyer back in April 2017 on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” notes ThinkProgress:
“The president did not draft the response. The response came from Donald Trump Jr., I’m sure in consultation with his lawyer… I do want to be clear the president was not involved in the drafting of the statement.”
