Trump Falsely Claims Obama Didn’t Call Families Of Fallen Soldiers

During a press conference in the White House Rose Garden, President Donald Trump falsely claimed that President Obama and other presidents didn’t call families of soldiers who died in combat.

Trump stated: “If you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn’t make calls, a lot of them didn’t t make calls.”

Obama and other presidents have called those families, and Obama met those families in 2009 noted The New York Times: “Obama had a private breakfast at the White House with families of soldiers who had died in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

The Washington Post reported in 2011 that Obama met with more families: “Obama had been driven to a building on the base where about 250 family members and fellow servicemen and women of the fallen had gathered. He spent approximately 70 minutes in a large community room called The Landings, meeting informally with family members, offering his condolences for their loss and his gratitude for their sacrifice and service.”

Alyssa Mastromonaco, who served as a deputy chief of staff under Obama, slammed Trump on Twitter for lying about the former president:
