Trump Claims Puerto Ricans Were Begging For Him To Throw Them Paper Towels

President Donald Trump claimed that Puerto Rican hurricane victims were begging him to toss them paper towels during his visit to San Juan.

Trump made his unsupported claim on Mike Huckabee’s new TBN show:

They had these beautiful, soft towels. Very good towels. And I came in and there was a crowd of a lot of people. And they were screaming and they were loving everything. I was having fun, they were having fun. They said, “Throw ’em to me! Throw ’em to me Mr. President!” The next day they said, “Oh, it was so disrespectful to the people.” It was just a made-up thing.

Trump also attacked the San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz and falsely claimed that no one except Crux objected to his administration’s two-week delayed response to the natural disaster.
