Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon told “60 Minutes” that Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey wasn’t considered for a cabinet position because he didn’t offer Trump support after the release of a 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape in 2016 that showed Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women.
Bannon told host Charlie Rose:
Christie, because of Billy Bush weekend, was not looked at for a cabinet position… I told him the plane leaves at 11-o-clock in the morning. If you make the plane, you make the team. He didn’t make the plane.
During another part of the interview Bannon accused Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Mitch McConnell of “trying to nullify the 2016 election” because they “do not want Donald Trump’s populist, economic nationalist agenda to be implemented.”
