White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tried to smear former FBI chief James Comey when she was asked about former senior advisor Steve Bannon.
During an interview on “60 Minutes,” Bannon said that Trump firing Comey was the biggest mistake in political history.
Sanders avoided a question by a reporter about Bannon’s statement, and falsely claimed that Comey had given a false testimony and had leaked “privileged information to journalists”:
I think we have been pretty clear what our position is, and certainly I think that has been shown in the days that followed, that the president was right in firing director Comey.
Since the director’s firing, we’ve learned new information about his conduct that only provided further justification for that firing, including giving false testimony, leaking privileged information to journalists, he went outside the chain of command and politicized an investigation into a presidential candidate.
