Former President Obama trolled birthers, one of whom is President Donald Trump, during a speech at Obama Foundation’s first global summit in Chicago on Oct. 31:
The reason I’m so excited to see you all here today in part is because this is were I started. This isn’t where I was born, I was born in Kenya. That’s a joke. I was born in Hawaii.
The Hill notes that the birther movement — Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. — was largely promoted by Trump, evangelist Franklin Graham, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and other right wingers during Obama’s presidency.
USA RODAY reports that Obama banned selfies with him or his wife Michelle at the summit: “It may seem trivial, but it’s not. I say this because … one of the weird things about becoming president is I found that people were no longer looking me in the eye and shaking my hand.”
