New Jersey Cop Roughs Up Teen Twin Sisters, Outrage Follows

A police officer, Hanifah Davis, was filmed roughly pushing two twin teen sisters to the concrete outside a restaurant in Orange, New Jersey. on Oct. 12.

In a video filmed by a witness, the officer grabbed both girls by the hair, took them down to the concrete and kneed them for reasons unknown.

News 12 Long Island notes that an Orange High School vice principal was issued a ticket for trying to stop the officer from manhandling the girls (video below), who have been identified as Nyasia and Kyasia Sorrells.

Kyasia recalled the incident:

(The officer) started pushing people, and then he grabbed me and put me in the pizza store and put my arm behind my back. I saw it through the window, and I came outside. And I’m like, “what are you doing?” Then he pushed me, and I had a plate of food in my hand and it fell. So then I went back over there, and I’m trying to get him off of her and then he swung me by my hair and started banging her head on the floor.

Protesters have called for the suspension and firing of the officer (video below).

Orange Police Department and Mayor Dwayne Warren said on Cot. 13 that Davis “has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an investigation.”
