Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, claimed that President Donald Trump could not remember her husband’s name when Trump called her.
Johnson told ABC’s “Good Morning America”:
He couldn’t remember my husband’s name. That’s what hurt me the most.
Johnson added that Trump made her feel “very upset” and “made me cry even worse.”
Johnson also questioned how the Trump administration handled the ambush in Niger that killed her husband and three other soldiers:
I don’t know how he got killed, where he got killed or anything.
Johnson said that she has not been allowed to see her husband’s body.
Johnson also defended Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson of Florida who has been maligned by Trump and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly:
Whatever she said was not fabricated. What she said was 100 percent correct.
Trump denied the Army widow’s recollection on Twitter:
I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!
