Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers helped lay 58 white Christian crosses underneath the famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign in honor of the 58 shooting victims despite not knowing if all, or any of them, were of the Christian faith.
The crosses were built by Greg Zanis of Aurora, Illinois who drove the Christian symbols to Las Vegas.
Zanis, who founded Crosses for Losses, told KTNV: “I feel that Las Vegas is having one of its darkest days in American history, but I’m trying to shed a light on that by bringing hope with the cross and showing ‘you weren’t alone’ when this happened.”
KTNV did not question whether or not the victims were all Christians.
Zanis told WGN-TV that he was also bringing Stars of David for jewish victims, but didn’t say how he knew there were Jewish or if there were victims of other faiths or non-faiths.
Like KTNV, WGN-TV did not ask.
