Las Vegas Cop Shoots Woman 7 Times For Carrying Shovel

Police body cam has surfaced of a cop shooting a woman seven times for refusing to drop a shovel in Las Vegas on May 12.

Officer Ondre Wills told Sommer Richards to drop the shovel for about a minute before pumping rounds into her, notes the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Wills was responding to calls about a woman threatening people with a broom and a skillet, and hitting a car with a shovel.

Willis stated on his police radio that Richards was mentally ill: “She’s screaming right now.”

In the body cam video, Wills told Richards four times in 30 seconds that he would shoot her if she took another step on the street.

Willis opened fire when Richards started to walk toward the sidewalk.

Richards was later taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with numerous gunshot wounds; she was listed in serious condition on May 15.

If she survives, Richards will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with a motor vehicle and battery on a protected person.

Wills was placed on paid leave while his police department reviews the video.
