Fox News Blames Russian Election Indictments On Obama

Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for allegedly interfering in the 2016 presidential election, which Fox News is trying to blame on former President Obama.

According to CNBC, the indictment says the Russians were “supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump … and disparaging Hillary Clinton.”

The indictment also said an “organization” known as the Internet Research Agency LLC “sought, in part, to conduct what it called ‘information warfare against the United States of America’ through fictitious U.S. personas on social media platforms and other Internet-based media.”

Former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah used tortured logic to try to blame the former black president, even though there have been proven links between the Russians and the Trump campaign:

I think a lot of people were very concerned, even at a small level, that this was happening. Devin Nunes has been talking about this for a couple of years. President Obama kind of pooh-poohed the idea that anybody could even interfere, but I think clearly  — the more we’ve learned, particularly after the election, yes, there were people improperly trying to manipulate the election.

Even if they weren’t successful… I don’t think there’s been any indication that it would’ve changed the outcome of the election but the fact that they were trying, I am glad there are going to evidently be some indictments and I hope they are prosecuted and put in jail for a long time.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said in January that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to sign a bipartisan statement of condemnation of Russian interference in the 2016 campaign, noted POLITICO:

Can you imagine if the president called a press conference in October, with this fella, Bannon, and company, and said, “Tell you what: Russians are trying to interfere in our elections and we have to do something about it?”

What do you think would have happened? Would things have gotten better, or would it further look like we were trying to delegitimize the electoral process, because of our opponent?
