Fire Chief, Who Called Steelers Head Coach The N-Word, Blames Media For Making Him Look Racist

Washington County, Pennsylvania fire chief Paul Smith has resigned after calling Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin the N-word, but Smith is blaming the media for making him look like a racist.

Smith posted on Facebook: “Tomlin just added himself to the list of no good N*****s. Yes I said it,” reports KDKA.

After the media accurately reported his racist post, Smith issued an apology: “I am embarrassed at this. I want to apologize. I was frustrated and angry at the Steelers not standing the anthem. This had nothing to do with my Fire Department. I regret what I said.”

However, Smith is now blaming the media for accurately reporting his racist post.

“The media dragged my fire company and township into this as well as my family,” Smith told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I regret what I said deeply and I am not the racist the media portrays me as. What I said was wrong and posted in anger.”
