Republicans and conservatives are furious at President Donald Trump for reportedly making a deal with House Democrat Minority leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer to protect DREAMers from being deported.
Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa told CNN that Trump’s base willl leave him for such a deal:
The base will leave him, they won’t be able to defend him anymore… I am talking about my constituents in Iowa that will say you need to be behind Trump. I am. I support his entire agenda…
I support the agenda that he had when he was sworn into office and I support almost every piece of the agenda, except the amnesty piece being dangled in front of America right now, and that’s so destructive to a first world country.
If you do not have the rule of law or respect for that law, then the people that are writing our immigration laws are the people breaking them. We had a protest here, day before yesterday hereint the Capitol, DREAMers coming up here and demanding we give them amnesty.
What right do law breakers have to make demands from duly elected officials from the citizens of the United States of America. If anything, they ought to be pleading for it and not demanding.
Fox News host Sean Hannity blamed Republicans on Twitter:
If reports true 100%. I blame R’s. They caused this. They wanted him to fail and now pushed him into arms of political suicide–IF TRUE. https://t.co/WTqe6jzfa9
