Cirque du Soleil performer Yann Arnaud fell to his death during a show in Tampa, Florida, on March 18.
The 38-year-old acrobat suffered fatal injuries in his 20-foot fall during the VOLTA show, notes The Sun.
Hours before the performance, Arnaud posted on Instagram about the new performance with aerial artist Pawel Walczewski:
After so much work and training and staging, our straps duo act is finally in the show tonight. It’s time to go for it.
Cirque du Soleil released a statement about his death:
While he was performing the aerial straps number, long-time aerialist, Yann Arnaud, fell onto the stage.
Emergency procedures were immediately activated and Yann was transported to the nearest hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.
[He] was loved by all who had the chance to know him.
