Bulldozer Crushes Police Car In Wild Chase

A bulldozer backed over a police squad car during a wild chase in Kankakee, Illinois on Aug. 24.

Police dash cam video of the incident was recently obtained by WLS-TV only after the station did a Freedom of Information Act filing.

The Kankakee city attorney originally told the news station that there were no videos of the incident, but there were multiple videos.

According to police, 18-year old Austin White stole the bulldozer from a construction site. A police car tried to block the 20-ton bulldozer, which simply rolled over it. An officer was filmed running out of the police car.

After backing onto the squad car, the bulldozer was chased by other police vehicles for 12 blocks. Some officers ran next to the bulldozer and jumped onto the back to stop the heavy construction equipment.

After the slow-speed chase came to a stop, officers hurled the driver from the top of the bulldozer to the pavement and tased him.

White was charged with six felonies, including attempted murder and driving under the influence of drugs.
