American Luger Emily Sweeney Loses Control In Scary Olympic Crash

American luger Emily Sweeney suffered a serious crash during the fourth round of the women’s singles luge competition at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

She bounced around the course and took several frightening hits to her head..

According to NBC Olympics, Sweeney walked off the course under her own power, told reporters, “I’m okay.” but was taken to a hospital for an X-ray as a precautionary measure.

Sweeney told NBC Sports reporter Lewis Johnson:

I’m very sore, and pretty stiff. I’m going to get an X-ray on my back after this, but I wanted to have the last word. So thanks for all the support, you guys. It’s a bummer, for sure, and I know that I’m better than that. But here we are — it happens.
