Alabama State Auditor Compares Teen Girls And Roy Moore To Mary And Joseph, Birth Of Jesus
Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler defended U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore by comparing Moore and the teen girls whom he allegedly pursued for sex (when he was in his 30s) to Mary and Joseph in the Bible.
The Washington Post reports that Moore engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl, and pursued sex with three more girls between the ages of 16 and 18. Moore has denied the allegations.
Ziegler told the Washington Examiner:
There is nothing to see here. The allegations are that a man in his early 30s dated teenage girls. Even the Washington Post report says that he never had sexual intercourse with any of the girls and never attempted sexual intercourse…
Take the Bible. Zachariah and Elizabeth for instance. Zachariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist.
Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.
Ziegler said Moore’s alleged relationship with a 14-year-old in the late 1970s “happened almost 40 years ago,” and added that “Roy Moore fell in love with one of the younger women.”
Ziegler recalled that Moore began dating his wife Kayla:
He dated her. He married her, and they’ve been married about 35 years. They’re blessed with a wonderful marriage and his wife Kayla is 14 years younger than Moore.
Ziegler predicted that Alabama voters would be angry at The Washington Post for “desperately trying to get something negative” by publishing the allegations from the four women.
