Airlines Refuse To Fly Man With Dog Fleeing Hurricane Irma

A man fleeing Hurricane Irma was denied an airplane flight in Miami because he did not have his dog in a carrier.

“I’m heading back to Kendall [Florida],” the man told CNN. “Just ride out the storm.”

The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act, which authorizes FEMA to rescue, shelter and care for people with pets and service animals, was passed in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina because thousands of people would not leave their pets in New Orleans.
